We welcome students and collaborators interested in advancing geospatial computing and applying it to scientific and societal challenges. Graduate Students

Prospective Ph.D. and master’s students are encouraged to contact Dr. Fangzheng Lyu to discuss research interests and potential opportunities. We provide fully funded positions for qualified Ph.D. (research assistantship) and master (teaching assistantship) students. We welcome inquiries from students with backgrounds in GIS, computer science, data science, urban planning, environmental science, and related fields.

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students interested in gaining research experience in geospatial computing are welcome to inquire. Potential projects involve geospatial data processing, spatial analysis, software development, and AI applications.

Postdoctoral Researchers

We welcome inquiries from prospective postdoctoral researchers interested in geospatial computing, spatial AI, and urban informatics. Candidates are encouraged to explore the Virginia Tech Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship, a competitive program offering up to two years of support.

Visiting Scholars & Collabrators

We welcome conversations with researchers and practitioners whose interests connect with our work. Areas of collaboration include geospatial infrastructure, computational methods, and applications addressing urban, environmental, and infrastructure challenges.
